To make sure that the new app performs optimally we want you to make sure the Android device is up to date.
Please perform the following checks:
- Check if Android system updates are available. If yes please install the system updates.
We have noticed that some workshops still use Android devices running on Android 4.4.x. This is an outdated operating system and unfortunately no longer supported by Google. The internal browser on these devices cannot be updated anymore. Read more about Android support
- Check in the Google Play Store if app updates are available. If yes, please install all app updates: especially the Android WebView. This is a system component powered by Chrome that allows Android apps to display web content. This component is pre-installed on your device and should be kept up to date to ensure you have the latest security updates and other bug fixes.
In some cases, it is necessary to force stop the Chrome app before the Webview update can be performed. Go to the settings menu, apps and force a chrome stop.
What if searching for updates fails
Clear cache
If you want to update apps but do not succeed, it is best to go to "Settings> Apps / Application manager" and tap "Google Play":
- Then select the "Storage space" field and choose "Empty cache" to delete temporary files.
- Then go back to the Google Play app and restart the app updates. In most cases, they must now be implemented without problems.
Clear data
If this does not work out, you can tackle it more rigorously by removing the app data:
- Again go to "Settings> Apps> Google Play", but this time choose "Delete data" in the Storage space menu.
- You can then stop Google Play via the top left button and restart the app.
- Your Google account is still connected to your Android device, so you don't have to do this again.
