We regularly receive questions about the immobilizer of the Ford Ka (2008 - 2015).
- Is it possible to fit a second-hand engine ECU?
A second-hand engine ECU can be fitted. Using the Jifeline OBD-II interface the donor engine control unit can be programmed. - Is it possible to mount a second-hand Body Control Module?
No is our first answer.
In theory, it is possible to mount a second-hand Body Control Module (BCM). This should come from a vehicle with exactly the same specifications. In addition, the keys of the donor vehicle must also be present with the donor BCM.
However, it is not recommended to do this. After all the immobilizer system is a Fiat Code2 system. In such a system, the transponder keys are also vehicle-specific coded (pre-coded). If a second-hand BCM is fitted anyway, this will cause problems when ordering a new key in the future.
The above also applies to the Fiat 500 models and all other vehicles with a Fiat Code2 immobiliser system such as the Citroën Jumper, Fiat Ducato, and Peugeot Boxer.
