SERMI stands for Security-related Repair and Maintenance Information. It was created because the European Union wanted a standard for accessing sensitive theft and security information of vehicles. It is a system used by car manufacturers to give workshops access to specific technical information, diagnostics, and service procedures for certain car brands.
Why do garages need SERMI?
For certain services, repairs, or updates, access to SERMI is mandatory. This ensures that:
Repairs are carried out safely and correctly.
The quality and reliability of the service align with the manufacturer’s guidelines.
Warranty claims and audits run smoothly.
Why do we request this from workshops?
We ask workshops for their SERMI status so we can demonstrate that all work is carried out correctly and complies with the requirements of the importer or manufacturer. This is important for audits and quality assurance of completed work.
How to obtain SERMI
To apply for a SERMI certificate, a workshop must register with a certification body. The body reviews the full application, this process is completely independent of our company.
