Requirements:
• J-ReX
• Vehicle with OBD port
• Device with internet access
• Device with hotspot capability
- Plug the OBD connector of the J-ReX into the vehicle’s OBD port.
- On the device with hotspot capability, make sure the hotspot is turned on and set it aside.
- On the back of the J-ReX, you will find the connector number.
- On the other device with internet access, search for available Wi-Fi networks via “Settings / Wi-Fi networks.”
- Please note: If you are using a mobile phone, turn off mobile data first.
- Look for the J-ReX in the list of available networks. It will appear as "connector XXXXX." If it is not listed, reset the J-ReX by pressing and holding the reset button at the bottom right on the back using a reset pin or paperclip for five seconds.
- Connect to the J-ReX. You may receive a message saying you are connected without internet. You can safely ignore or dismiss this message.
- On the same device connected to the J-ReX, open an internet browser and enter connector.help in the URL bar.
- Under the heading “available networks,” choose the mobile hotspot you want to connect the J-ReX to.
- Important: Enter the hotspot password carefully, there is no notification if it is incorrect.
- A spinning circle will appear. Watch the orange and green LEDs near the Ethernet port and wait until both lights stay on continuously.
Note: The webpage may jump back to “available networks.” This does not indicate that the J-ReX is connected. Always focus on the LEDs, they show the actual connection status. - The front LEDs on top of the J-ReX may turn blue, indicating a firmware update is in progress.
Important: If a firmware update is running, wait until the LEDs turn green automatically. - Once both Ethernet port LEDs stay on continuously and the front LEDs turn green, the J-ReX is successfully connected to the mobile hotspot.
- You may now turn mobile data back on for the other device.
