Connecting the J-ReX to a Different Wi-Fi Network or Hotspot

To connect the J-ReX to a different network or hotspot, please follow these steps:

Requirements:

  • J-ReX
  • Vehicle with OBD port
  • Reset pin or paperclip
  • Device with internet connection
  1. Connect the OBD plug of the J-ReX to the vehicle’s OBD port and wait until the LEDs on the side of the Ethernet port light up.
  2. Using the reset pin or paperclip, press the reset button on the J-ReX for three to five seconds (located at the lower right on the back of the J-ReX).
  3. On your device, go to Settings → Wi-Fi networks and look for the J-ReX in the available networks. It will appear as connector XXXXX.
  4. If the connector number appears in the available networks list, follow Option 1 to connect the J-ReX to a Wi-Fi network or Option 2 to connect it via a hotspot.
  5. If the connector number does not appear, reset the J-ReX again and check if it becomes visible.
  6. If the orange LED on the side of the J-ReX does not light up, unplug the OBD connector, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. If this does not work, perform a hard reset (see below).

Hard reset

  1. Connect the OBD plug of the J-ReX to the vehicle’s OBD port and wait until the LEDs on the side of the Ethernet port light up.
  2. Press and hold the reset button with a reset pin or paperclip for 60 seconds. The side LEDs will turn off during the reset.
  3. Let the J-ReX “rest” for 5–10 minutes. The J-ReX will reset itself to factory settings (reset button is located at the lower right on the back).
  4. On your device, go to Settings → Wi-Fi networks and look for the J-ReX, shown as connector XXXXX.
  5. If the connector number appears, follow Option 1 to connect to a Wi-Fi network or Option 2 to connect via a hotspot.

Please note: After the hard reset, the front LEDs on the top of the J-ReX may turn blue and beep while updating. Once the top LEDs turn green again, the J-ReX is ready for use!
